Mandela: A large number of IDF breaks into Galboua prison during families’ visit

A large number of IDF forces broke into the prisoners’ cells at Galbou’a prison on Monday 7/5/2007 at 9:05 a.m. during a private families’ visit from Jerusalem and the Green Line areas.

Nidal Yaghmour, the brother of prisoner Jihad Yaghmour, stated that a large number of armed IDF broke into the prisoners’ cells during the visit this morning and opened fire, sound bombs, and tear gas; a number of injuries were reported among the prisoners.

Nidal Yaghmour added that the families saw ambulances and IDF carrying stretchers to the cells. Yaghmour added that three minutes after the visit started IDF broke aggressively and brutally into the cells and sections and they evacuated the families including kids and aged people from the visiting room.

Within the ongoing attacks against prisoners inside the Israeli prisons and families’ mistreatments during visits, Mandela Institute condemns the aggressive attacks and demands the human rights organizations and the International Committee of the Red Cross to play their roles to put an end to the Israeli inhuman violations against prisoners. The Institute also holds the Israeli wardens the entire responsibility for the prisoners’ lives at Galbou’a prison.
